Business Model

What is Freedom Film Distributors?

Freedom Film Distributors seeks to affect a change in culture through the mass distribution of God-honoring films on a wide range of topics. Our vision is for a network of at least 1000 distributors nationwide to take these films directly to their communities.

In terms of function, we are primarily a marketing and training company to provide support to the distributor network. We providecentralized high quality creative and graphic support along with entrepreneurial training resources to enable distributors to build their businesses regardless of their level of experience or industry background.

Is this Network Marketing or MLM?

Definitely not. While we do have an affiliate program for referring people who become new distributors, distributors earn their profit by selling DVDs, not from commissions based on the building of a network.

Are Distributors Limited to sales in their territory?

No. Distributors are free to sell films and establish movie nights in any region where a distributor does not currently exist. Multiple distributors may join forces to represent Freedom Films at conferences, county fairs, and other larger venues and events.

Do you plan to make films available for download?

Although there has been growth in downloadable media, there is still solid demand for physical media. We will continually monitor industry trends and look at how we can incorporate digital media in the future. Because our business strategy is more about doing locally based promotion than just locally based sales, a transition to more digital media would not eliminate the need for a local, community-oriented promotion effort.

To what degree have large national distributors using online or direct marketing replaced brick and mortar stores, and what does that indicate for the potential of them crowding out this distribution model?

Online sales represent less than 5% of all product purchases in 2009. Your distributorship allows you all of the benefit of in-person sales and marketing without the costly overhead of a store.

Will Freedom Film Distributors compete with large Christian retailers like CBD and others?

Freedom Film Distributors will expand the existing market for God-honoring films far beyond the traditional marketplace for Christian films by conducting screenings in secular venues in addition to churches. We expect to work closely with other content providers to open access to this expanded market for their product inventory, as well.

How do you plan to reach a general Christian or even secular market when your films only seem to appeal to a small niche market?

While the current films may seem to be focused around a certain set of interests, there will be growth in both the film subjects and the number of film producers represented. Additionally, just because there is a focus on family life in many of the films does not mean that it will not be attractive to those who do not make that their priority. One of the important aspects of the FFD effort is to take a God-honoring message of family life to a needy world, and we are hopeful that God will use it to impact many.

Distributor Requirements

Are there a minimum level of sales or activity that a distributor must have to keep the license active?

Each distributor must hold at least one community activity (movie night, screening, etc.) per quarter and must purchase a minimum of 200 DVDs per year. In addition, distributors are required to purchase at least 10 copies of each new national release, which count toward the annual purchase minimums. At any point, a distributor may simply sellout their inventory and not renew their license for the next year.

While the focus of the Freedom Film Distributors network is to reach out and engage local communities, we will create an online ordering capability for distributors that will allow them to reach out to friends and family outside of their area, as well as past customers and enable them to order films online. These online orders will be separate from inventory orders and will not count towards the minimum sales required of each distributor.
