Freedom Film Distributors celebrates its 2nd Birthday

Two years ago this week, Freedom Film Distributors officially launched our effort to bring independently produced films that promote the values of Faith, Family, and Freedom to communities across the nation and the world through grassroots promotion and distribution efforts. It has been a challenging journey thus far, but we are thankful for the opportunity that God has given us to help families across the country get involved in promoting great movies in their local area.

We have independent distributors across the country that are raising awareness about independently produced films through networking, attended local and regional events as exhibitors, and through hosting movie nights. Many of our distributor families have found great fulfillment in working together as a family in a simple and straightforward family business, one that even young children can participate in and develop important life and business skills such as planning, accounting, marketing, sales, and customer service. Most distributors have joined us because they love the films that we promote – many have had life-changing influence on them – and their passion for sharing the messages of the films motivates them in their local promotion and distribution efforts. If you love family films and want to promote them in the context of a family business, please consider joining us as a distributor.

National Movie Night - Join us and host a movie night in your community!

Our National Movie Night project started last fall by premiering several new films nationwide, including Agenda: Griding America Down, which won the $101,000 Best of Festival Grand Prize at the 2010 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, and Divided, a controversial film that has had a huge impact on they way that Christians consider children and youth ministry. Since then, National Movie Night has held nationwide premieres of Resisting the Green Dragon, Jimmy Valiant: Scions of Danger, An Inconvenient Tax, Dale Evans: Beyond the Happy Trails, Gather the Family, Crying Wolf, and a special pre-release screening of Rescued: The Heart of Adoption and Caring for Orphans. The Films

Here are some of the significant films that Freedom Film Distributors has worked to promote these past two years.

A More Perfect Union DVD

Family Worship is as old as the church itself, and was a regular part of family life from the time of the Great Reformation until falling out of practice with the disruption of family life due to the industrial revolution and the advent of modern education. Family Worship was one of the daily activities that defined American colonial life, and was one of the chief reasons that America was the most literate nation on earth (perhaps ever) by the early 1800s. Some of the greatest English and American pastors and theologians clearly demonstrate its central role through their writings, such as in these examples:

Family Worship is on the Rise and Gather the Family will Help

Family Worship is on the rise.  Kevin Swanson of Generations Radio discussed family worship and interviewed Donald Whitney, author of Family Worship in the Bible, in History, and in Your Home, along with the founder of Freedom Film Distributors, to discuss this trend and what is driving it.  Ultimately, God calls on His people to worship him in daily life, and the application of this in the home is what is referred to as Family Worship.

Esmont, VA, 4/12/2011 — The powerful new documentary film Resisting the Green Dragon, produced by the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation, will be premiered nationwide on Earth Day weekend, April 22-24, through National Movie Night, a project of Freedom Film Distributors. The Resisting the Green Dragon documentary is the introduction to a larger 12 part DVD series that provides a Biblical analysis and critique of the radical environmentalist movement. The series educates and warns Christians of the dangers of this movement that seeks to lure them into unwise actions and ways of thinking about the environment. National Movie Night is designed to harness the energy of fans of independently produced films by giving them a way to host movie nights in their communities. Freedom Film Distributors will also promote and distribute the film and its accompanying 12 part DVD series nationwide through its grassroots network of distributors.
 

 
At a critical moment in the global environmental debate, many of America’s top Christian leaders have joined with the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation to produce an explosive new 12-part DVD series and introductory documentary film called Resisting the Green Dragon. The series sounds the alarm about dangerous environmental extremism and brings a Biblical viewpoint on environmental issues and creation stewardship to evangelical churches, ministries, and schools. The new video series comes at a time when environmental advocacy groups are frustrated that their top priority for the past two decades—a global treaty to curtail fossil fuel use to fight alleged catastrophic global warming—is losing steam.
 
Resisting the Green Dragon is therefore particularly timely because it not only refutes the scientific case for dangerous manmade warming and other “crises,” but also exposes how environmental organizations use sophisticated media campaigns and even seek increased global governance to promote their agenda among policy makers, religious leaders, and youth. “One of the greatest threats to society and the church today is the multifaceted environmentalist movement,” says Cornwall Alliance founder and national spokesman Dr. E. Calvin Beisner. “There isn’t an aspect of life that it doesn’t seek to force into its own mold.”

Families Connecting at the Family Economics Conference

This weekend saw hundreds of families join together in Raleigh, North Carolina to celebrate and learn about productive family economics at the 2011 Family Economics Conference.  Sponsored by Generations with Vision, the Family Economics Conference covered topics such as Vision for the Family Economy, How to Train Your Sons to be Financially Prepared for Marriage, The College Paradigm and the Family Economy, and Mentoring, Networking, and Contractualization, among others.

It was a special event that saw the rendezvous of several Freedom Film Distributor families. Alan Hillman's family represented Freedom Film Distributors in the vendor hall, Randy Winton and his sons had a booth for their new home business promotion venture Christian Home Industry, and I had a booth for a new project I've just launched called True Food Solutions, a community content and networking site focused on finding solutions to the challenges of finding healthy and affordable food in an era of rising food prices. It was a blessing to fellowship together with others from our Freedom Film Distributor family.

The Wintons were invited to perform their wonderful bluegrass gospel music for the large crowd, and provided wonderful uplifting entertainment during lunchtime and the evening keynote sessions.

Happy New Year! (only a couple of weeks late) While still not sure if I've finally emerged from the holiday season productivity black hole, things seem to be picking up and we're very excited about what's ahead for Freedom Film Distributors.

New Life for the New Year - Adeline Virginia

The close of the Year of our Lord 2010 was an exciting one for my family, as we welcomed our 5th child into our arms. Adeline Virginia was born New Year's Eve, so it was at once the most wonderful and most quiet New Year's celebration we've ever had.

Looking ahead to the year 2011, there are lots of exciting new things in store.  Here's a brief list:

  1. New promotion opportunities for fans of family movies and Christian films, including a fundraiser program that's in development, and an affiliate marketing program to allow all you bloggers and likeminded organization to help promote great films.
  2. Continued growth for the National Movie Night project, including additional screenings of hit films AGENDA: Grinding America Down and DIVIDED, plus new films in production to be released soon.
  3. New family films and Christian movie releases coming, including the powerful Indoctrintion documentary by Colin Gunn and his team, and the forthcoming family adventure movie Ace Wonder by John Robert Moore and the team at HeuMoore Productions.
  4. Events galore – conferences, homeschool conventions, festivals, county fairs, and more will see our distributors interacting with their communities to promote and share our great catalog of family films and Christian movies across the country.

Esmont, VA, 12/2/2010 — The new documentary film DIVIDED is being premiered nationwide this weekend through National Movie Night, a project of Freedom Film Distributors. Over 65 hosts have volunteered to show the film in their homes, churches, and private facilities during the weekend of December 3-5.  This is the first of several nationwide screenings of this new documentary on the American church and youth ministry.
 
The producer, Peter Bradrick of the National Council of Family Integrated Churches, chose to partner with Freedom Film Distributors to promote and distribute the film nationwide through its grassroots network of independent distributors and through screenings of the film as part of the National Movie Night project. National Movie Night is designed to harness the energy of fans of family-oriented films by giving them a way to host movie nights for independently produced films in their communities.
 
 

 
DIVIDED follows young Christian filmmaker Philip LeClerc on a revealing journey as he seeks answers to what has led his generation away from the church. The National Movie Night project was recently launched as one component of the strategy of Freedom Film Distributors to build an alternative distribution network outside of the existing Hollywood structures. National Movie Night establishes a schedule of nationally coordinated movie nights that will focus promotion for a particular film in a defined date range. This will allow Freedom Film Distributors to leverage its national promotional campaigns through its Movie Night Hosts at the local level for the film screenings they are hosting. Movie Night Hosts will be provided with planning guidance and promotional tools to set up and promote their movie night, and with DVD packs to distribute to event attendees. The goal is to provide a conduit for grassroots activism to promote independently produced family-friendly films to diverse audiences all around the country. For more info, visit: http://nationalmovienight.com
