New Rescued documentary to get nationwide screening through Freedom Film Distributors and National Movie Night project
The brand new, still unreleased documentary film Rescued will be screened nationwide through National Movie Night this weekend, a project of Freedom Film Distributors. A special pre-release version of the film will be shown by dozens of movie night hosts around the country November 18-21, to provide an early look at this powerful documentary about adoption and caring for orphans. The executive producers, Randy Winton of Wintons Motion Pictures and Greg Hedrick of Hedrick Brothers Production, have announced they will partner with Freedom Film Distributors to promote the film nationwide through its grassroots network of independent distributors and through screenings of the film as part of the National Movie Night project. National Movie Night is designed to harness the energy of fans of family-oriented films by giving them a way to host movie nights for independently produced films in their communities.
Rescued is a film that calls Christians to heed the biblical call from James 1:27 to care for orphans and to consider adoption as a way of caring for them. Movie Night Hosts are being provided a complimentary pre-release copy of Rescued to show at their event this weekend.
Rescued has been entered as a contestant into the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF). Now in its seventh year, SAICFF has established itself as the premiere independent Christian film festival, and gives away the largest single cash prize of any film festival in the US – secular or Christian. Each year a check for $101,000 is awarded to the Best of Festival Jubilee Award winner. One of the key components of its mission is "To facilitate the development of alternative and independent vehicles for producing and distributing films outside the Hollywood machine, which will build, bless, and benefit the American family." Family Worship is making a comeback in the church – Gather the Family documents this trend and premieres this weekend Nationwide through Freedom Film Distributors and the National Movie Night project. New DVD shows practical implementation of Courageous Resolution.
Esmont, VA, 5/27/2011 — Gather the Family: An Inside Look at Family Worship, a new DVD by Franklin Springs Family Media and distributed by Freedom Film Distributors, demonstrates a great first step for men inspired by the Courageous Resolution, or who seek the tools to become the spiritual leader of their home. Join thousands of families across the United States that are exploring the blessing and peace and that come from making family worship a regular part of the family routine. Gather the Family is a look inside the walls of seven different homes to see how they go about the practice of family devotions and family worship.
Gather the Family premieres nationwide through National Movie Night this weekend, November 11-13, where local movie night hosts will gather the family of friends and neighbors to expose them to this inspiring profile in family spiritual life. National Movie Night is designed to harness the energy of fans of independently produced films by giving them a way to host movie nights in their communities. Freedom Film Distributors will also promote and distribute the film nationwide through its grassroots network of independent film distributors and via its Freedom Web Store and affiliate team.
Family Worship is as old as the church itself, and was a regular part of family life from the time of the Great Reformation until falling out of practice with the disruption of family life due to the industrial revolution and the advent of modern education. Family Worship was one of the daily activities that defined American colonial life, and was one of the chief reasons that America was the most literate nation on earth (perhaps ever) by the early 1800s. Some of the greatest English and American pastors and theologians clearly demonstrate its central role through their writings, such as in these examples:
We deeply want a revival of domestic religion. The Christian family was the bulwark of godliness in the days of the puritans, but in these evil times hundreds of families of so-called Christians have no family worship, no restraint upon growing sons, and no wholesome instruction or discipline. How can we hope to see the kingdom of our Lord advance when His own disciples do not teach His gospel to their own children? Oh, Christian men and women, be thorough in what you do and know and teach! Let your families be trained in the fear of God and be yourselves "holiness unto the Lord"; so shall you stand like a rock amid the surging waves of error and ungodliness which rage around us. – Charles Spurgeon
Every Christian family ought to be as it were a little church, consecrated to Christ, and wholly influenced and governed by his rules. And family education and order are some of the chief means of grace. If these fail, all other means are likely to prove ineffectual. If these are duly maintained, all the means of grace will be likely to prosper and be successful. — Jonathan Edwards

Freedom Film Distributors is excited to announce a new product fitting for this Memorial Day weekend: Frank Capra's masterpiece series on World War II called Why We Fight.

Why We Fight is an incredible overview of the events leading up to America's involvement in World War II. Master filmmaker, Frank Capra, was commissioned by the US Army to produce this documentary series to show the soldiers what they were fighting for – and what evils they were fighting against. With nearly seven hours of actual footage from WWII, Why We Fight adds a new dimension to the study of history – a dimension that books and photos cannot match.
Capra gives viewers a greater understanding of the issues, battles, heroes, and villains of WWII as told from America's perspective. The films in this series are as compelling as any war movie, but the battle-weary soldiers and civilians are not actors. The explosions and ensuing destruction are not the product of Hollywood special effects – they're real.
Far from perfect, Why We Fight stumbles over ideas like religious pluralism and FDR's New Deal. It's proof that history is not neutral – the bias of the teacher (in this case, Capra) shows through. As such, viewers will have their worldviews sharpened if they keep their minds engaged. Our hope with this series is that viewers will learn from the past so they can emulate the triumphs of past generations and avoid their mistakes.

John Robert Moore – writer, director, and producer of the award-winning The Widow's Might – was on the WallBuilders Live radio show with Rick Green recently, and spent a good deal of time discussing National Movie Night and the unique opportunity it has to mobilize grassroots support for independently produced films that support our core values of Faith, Family, and Freedom. The show title was "Empowering Christian Film Makers to Influence Entertainment" and John discussed his experience as a filmmaker and culture changer, along with talking about how grassroots promotion of independent films, such as through the National Movie Night project, can be a powerful mode for changing culture.

John Moore's film The Widow's Might won the Best of Festival and Audience Choice awards at the 2009 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. His success with that film has built a stepping stone to his new project Ace Wonder, which will likely receive theatrical distribution when it debuts in early 2012.
John also described the National Movie Night project as an important avenue for many independent Christian filmmakers to not only promote their films through grassroots efforts of their fans, but also a way for them to support other filmmakers by promoting other films to their fan base. These family movie nights have the potential to spread the growing number of films that are purposely made with a Christian worldview to a much wider audience.
We are grateful to have a friend like John Moore who is not only a creative filmmaker seeking to honor God through his art, but also who actively uses his growing influence to help get the word out about supporting efforts such as Freedom Film Distributors and National Movie Night.

This weekend saw hundreds of families join together in Raleigh, North Carolina to celebrate and learn about productive family economics at the 2011 Family Economics Conference. Sponsored by Generations with Vision, the Family Economics Conference covered topics such as Vision for the Family Economy, How to Train Your Sons to be Financially Prepared for Marriage, The College Paradigm and the Family Economy, and Mentoring, Networking, and Contractualization, among others.

It was a special event that saw the rendezvous of several Freedom Film Distributor families. Alan Hillman's family represented Freedom Film Distributors in the vendor hall, Randy Winton and his sons had a booth for their new home business promotion venture Christian Home Industry, and I had a booth for a new project I've just launched called True Food Solutions, a community content and networking site focused on finding solutions to the challenges of finding healthy and affordable food in an era of rising food prices. It was a blessing to fellowship together with others from our Freedom Film Distributor family.

The Wintons were invited to perform their wonderful bluegrass gospel music for the large crowd, and provided wonderful uplifting entertainment during lunchtime and the evening keynote sessions.

The Family Economics Conference addressed many issues that are foundational to the existence and vision of Freedom Film Distributors. It was a blessing to meet with and learn alongside many other families that are seeking to be productive in and through their family life. We encourage you to purchase the Family Economics Conference audio to benefit from the wonderful widom shared by the speakers this past weekend. Visit the Freedom Film Distributors website if you are interested in pursuing a simple family business opportunity you can do with your children.

Divided documentary is being screened nationwide March 18-20 through Freedom Film Distributors and its National Movie Night project.
The documentary film DIVIDED has been having a significant impact on viewers since being premiered nationwide in December through National Movie Night, a project of Freedom Film Distributors. Over 65 hosts volunteered to show the film in their homes, churches, and private facilities during the weekend of December 3-5. DIVIDED the Movie, a documentary on the American church and youth ministry, is being screened again the weekend of March 18-20, and we're looking for more Movie Night Hosts to sign up to show DIVIDED to their friends, family, and neighbors.
On behalf of the producer of DIVIDED, we are also conducting a Movie Review Survey on DIVIDED to collect feedback on the film. If you or others you know have seen it, please take a few minutes and fill out the DIVIDED Movie Review Survey. Survey respondents will receive a 20% off coupon for our family movies and other products in the Freedom Web Store.
DIVIDED follows young Christian filmmaker Philip LeClerc on a revealing journey as he seeks answers to what has led his generation away from the church. Traveling across the country conducting research and interviewing church kids, youth ministry experts, evangelists, statisticians, social commentators, and pastors, Philip discovers the shockingly sinister roots of modern, age-segregated church programs, and equally shocking evidence that the pattern in the Bible for training future generations is at odds with modern church practices.

The National Movie Night project was started last year as one component of the strategy of Freedom Film Distributors to build an alternative distribution network outside of the existing Hollywood structures. National Movie Night establishes a schedule of nationally coordinated movie nights that will focus promotion for a particular film in a defined date range. This will allow Freedom Film Distributors to leverage its national promotional campaigns through its Movie Night Hosts at the local level for the film screenings they are hosting. Movie Night Hosts will be provided with planning guidance and promotional tools to set up and promote their movie night, and with DVD packs to distribute to event attendees. The goal is to provide a conduit for grassroots activism to promote independently produced family-friendly films to diverse audiences all around the country.
